VERSE 20. God’s purpose in all these dealings with His creation was to “reconcile all things to Himself.” This purpose was accomplished by the sending of Christ, whereby God “made peace through the blood of His cross.” Christ’s death by crucifixion was not martyrdom; it was a vicarious sacrifice that satisfied God’s righteous demands by paying in full the penalty for sin.
